
Attualmente è il Responsabile Scientifico del Very Lage Telescope Interferometer dell’European Southern Observatory (ESO), consigliere di amministrazione dell’Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF) e Presidente della Marconi Society presso la Columbia University di New York. E’ autore di circa 150 articoli scientifici e ha ricevuto diversi premi dalla NASA. Nel 1974 ha inventato uno strumento oggi utilizzato ordinariamente in alcuni satelliti.
